About me

Jimmy's Driving SchoolHi, I’m Jimmy and I provide manual driving lessons in Hull.

I believe learning to drive should be about much more than passing a test. It’s about becoming a safe, confident and independent driver for life. This is where the LD system of driving tuition is unmatched in the driver training industry. Using the system we will be able to follow your progress, tick of the targets and you can watch the accompanying videos to help prepare for each lesson.

When I passed my driving test in 2011 and landed my first job as a van driver it really made me appreciate my driving skills and the ability to gain employment. I chose to further my driver training and gained my C1 licence in 2016. Driving is a very important life skill that helps you gain your independence and get on the career ladder.

I decided to pursue a career as a driving instructor after helping my partner learn to drive. They have dyslexia, so we’ve had to find approaches that work best for them. It’s reinforced my belief that everyone learns differently and good teaching means adapting to the individual. I have undertaken additional CPD in this area and keen to continue developing my understanding of neurodiversity so I can better support pupils with different learning styles, as well as those who feel anxious behind the wheel. I am also a member of the MSA (Motor Schools Association).

Outside of work, I’m a big car enthusiast and have been involved in the modified car scene for several years. One of my biggest projects was stripping my Honda Civic Type R down for some welding and a fresh respray. After rebuilding the engine and gearbox with some upgraded parts, I managed to get it from a rolling shell to the MOT station in just five days! My Honda Accord is a little more understated mechanically, but its body kit and anime wrap make it stand out.

I also spent three years co-running a community interest company teaching young people aged 14–24 about vehicle maintenance and repair. Helping others develop practical skills and confidence is something I’ve always found rewarding.

I know getting behind the wheel can feel daunting, which is why I pride myself on having a calm, patient and approachable teaching style. There’s no need to feel embarrassed about asking questions or making mistakes. We’ll work at a pace that suits you, build on what you already know and tackle challenges one step at a time. I guarantee that my car will be a safe learning space and lessons will be conducted in a professional and friendly manner. Whether you’re excited to get started or feeling nervous about learning to drive, I want you to feel comfortable, supported and ready to give it your best.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss your requirements and I can see where I can help you on your driving journey.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you get started!
